We offer a DIY kit for building your own disc wheel for track use as described in our instructable. The kit includes a hub with bearings and axle, carbon fiber side plates and spokes for truing the wheel. You need to source a rim with machined sidewalls and the correct adhesive. We will supply instructions on what to get and how to build the wheel. Weight 1.5-2.0 kg depending on the sideplate thickness you want. Price is 890 EUR for the kit.
The disc wheel consists of an NC turned three-piece aluminium fixed-fixed hub, carbon fiber laminates and an aluminium clincher rim. The wheel is trued using conventional spokes and one of the carbon laminates is bonded to the hub flange and rim side wall. The spokes are cut off and a carbon laminate is bonded on the other side with four strips of PET foam acting as core material (optional). The foam could be left out since the laminates are quite stable. We use aerospace grade prepreg carbon to make the side plates. Your sideplates can be customised with 3D debossed text, patterns etc. and we can supply vinyl graphics according to your design.
